Manufacturers have a myriad of commercial solutions available for the feeding of bulk solids materials. When applying a solution, it is wise to ensure that your supplier can evaluate the application and make a proper recommendation based on your current processing needs. This presentation will address some of the commercial solutions available: single-screw, twin-screw, vibratory, belt feeders and others. Testing criteria vendors utilize to validate their recommendations will also be discussed. Consideration regarding the measurement of accuracy relating to volumetric or gravimetric (loss-in-weight) solutions and the relationship to the selection of the proper feeding device will be addressed. Once the proper selection is made, steps to address installation, as well as long-term operations via common field issues will be explored and discussed. Presentation is suited for engineers, operators and plant managers who are looking to select, improve and maintain overall product quality, increase yields, and ensure minimal material loss.
